Change in rescue cat

Sorry, me again, not such a big issue as the cats fighting but I wondered if anyone has any ideas.

Candy, the younger of our cats, was all over us when we first got her an dalso at the RSPCA shelter - cuddling, on all our laps, wanting strokes etc. We were told that she'll follow people around and want attention the whole time and she'[d sit on my lap for hours at a time. Now she is settling in nicely she virtually ignores us except for food or when one of us plays with her. Much of the time she prefers to sit in a different part of the house completely.

Okay, so I know ignoring and superior behaviour is the norm for cats and I know that we are here merely to serve, but I am concerned about the change in her.

Is she unhappy, or was her apparent friendliness a sign that she was unhappy and now she doesn't feel so insecure?

Re: Change in rescue cat

Sorry, I don't know if I'm asking a daft question but Candy is even more aloof today and is hardly interacting with us at all. She seems happy and relaxed, just no longer interested in our company!

Er, do you really think I'm that stupid that I'd fall for a pretty tabby cat pretending to be all cuddly and cute and loving just so that she can get her paws under my table? come off it!

Re: Change in rescue cat

You'd be surprised just how devious these cats can be! For instance mine deliberately knocked over my standard lamp with a glass shade which shattered, so that there was then a space next to the window where he could have his climbing tree. And then, knowing I'm not a morning person, but wanting me to get up earlier, the other morning he pressed my Lifeline Alarm at 7.00am and I was woken up by a male voice asking if I was ok!! I rushed to answer it before he called in the troops - but then I went back to bed, so that plan backfired!
