Kitten recently starting urinating around house

Not sure how to tackle this one, but want to asap!

Sparkle is coming up to 6 months now, she is booked in to be neutered on Feb 15th. The last week or so, we have noticed that she is urinating in different areas of the house (mainly behind the TV, by the side of the piano which is another closed off area), but also on the children's beanbags which are in the living room.

We change her litter tray frequently and its the same litter that she has always used since before we had her from CPL. She is happy to go in the tray for poo's and is still weeing in there sometimes so not sure why she is choosing these other places too

How can we stop her doing this, and what can we use to prevent her favouring these areas?

Thanks xx

Re: Kitten recently starting urinating around house

As she is reaching/has reached sexual maturity she will be urinating in the home in a bid to attract a Tom cat and to "advertise" her availability ... so be sure to keep her in at all times. Is there no way you can bring spay date forward?

As I suggested on other post about male cat, try cleaning areas with biological washing liquid/water. Until spayed, limit her access to the whole home if you can, especially if you are unable to supervise her 100%

Hopefullly once spayed, this will be less of a problem. Other causes could be physical or psychological, has anything changed to upset her. Obviously these causes will have their own treatment, so speak to vet if concerned, but chances are it's hormonal. But just my thoughts, see vet if you need to

Re: Kitten recently starting urinating around house

Thanks for the reply! The 15th was the earliest date we could get when we called, which is week Tuesday so not too long. We have cleaned with biological washing liquid, so hopefully this will do the trick. She is restricted to downstairs at the moment anyway as allowing her to go upstairs would have given her access to the front door, and we wanted to make sure she couldn't escape.

I think you may be right in looking for a Tom actually as over the last few days she seems to be watching the doors and attempting to run into the hallway given the opportunity!

Re: Kitten recently starting urinating around house

i think you should go to the vet sounds like she may have a UTI infection, i dont think its spraying as she is a little young and not calling, esp if its all over the house. also if shes just trying to run into the hallway shes prob just invesitgating as the doors been shut, mine do that
