My little girl likes to go on the floor, will she learn to be a 'proper' big girl?
Unfortunately we found out that we had our two girls (sisters) from 4ish weeks (we thought they were 8weeks at the time) we have had lots of problems but over coming them. The problem that we keep having with one of them is pooing and weeing on the floor, she can and will use the litter tray but sometimes goes on the floor. There is no other change in behaviour or pattern to it and we have tried blocking off where she does it, treats and praise for going in the litter tray, we change the litter every few days and poo is removed straight away. We have three litters trays around the house. She is now 5 months, i think a lot of problems we have had and have are due to having them so young and not having mum to teach them everything properly, but we do have a boy who is 2 months older and a very good role model. So i wondered if going on the floor is normal at this age? If anything can be done? And if a young kitten without their mum will learn how to do everything "properly".
Many thanks |

Re: My little girl likes to go on the floor, will she learn to be a 'proper' big girl
Gosh that is really young. Are you sure they were so young. It is very unusual for kittens to be eating at all never mind enough to survive at such an young age.Any way, you are quite lucky that the problem you mention is the only one you are experiencing.Im no expert on young ,problem kittens all I can suggest is that you keep putting her in the tray frequently during the day, especially when she wakes and after meals. You could try this Product Review - Cat Attract I'm not sure where the best/cheapest place to get it is,but I'm sure if you google it you will find a supplier.Hopefully someone with a bit more experience will come along soon.Good luck.

Re: My little girl likes to go on the floor, will she learn to be a 'proper' big girl
Well we had had them two weeks when we first took them to the vets and he aged them at around 6 weeks, but they were eating solid food but couldn't really use the litter tray or clean themselves, so it's a guess really.
We have had quite a few problems and difficulties since we have had them but this is the real problem at the moment - it's just frustrating as there is no pattern or regularity to it and she will usually use the litter tray. I tried to find some kind of 'get off spray' in Pets at Home, but they didn't seem to have any. I will def try the cat attract. I just really do worry that they will not have/gain all the skills etc they need as they were away from mum too soon... |

Re: My little girl likes to go on the floor, will she learn to be a 'proper' big girl
im sure they couldnt have been 4weeks old, they wouldnt have been eating or even tolddingly along by themselfs??
im sorry but i dont even have any tips, just keep them in 1 room, a few litter trays and put her in there every hours after food drink play and dig her paws, if she wees poos elsewhere pick it up and put in the tray so it smells of wee/poo throughly clean all floors, not with bleach as that attracts them to keep doing it. good luck
