Hi, thought I would see if anyone else has this type of thing happen. My 1.5 year old female cat, since she was about 9 weeks old, always comes charging into the room whenever I play a certain song. Within seconds of it starting she knows what it is and she fusses the speakers and myself for the entire duration. I thought I had somehow accidentally conditioned her to respond but I have no idea how. My 1 year old boy has started running through with her but he's just a copy cat (pardon the pun). Can cats enjoy specific music? I know this sounds bizzare but I'm interested in hearing if anyone else has experienced this!
For notes sake, the song is: Too Little Too Late - Metric YouTube - Metric - Too Little Too Late |

Re: Cat reacts oddly to a song
My Ari likes classical music, specially arias and flutes. I discovered it by accident, while watching a youtube video ( YouTube - Mozart Piano Concerto No. 9, First Mvt, Mitsuko Uchida ), and she came around to see what was going on (btw, that was the time she was hiding under the sofa, and didn't come closer unless it was dinner time). I've made a playlist with her favourites, so I can play when she's been too agitated.

Re: Cat reacts oddly to a song
YouTube - Tv Theme Citizen Smith
We had a cat years ago, pretty wild thing and he certainly was no lap cat. When he heard this theme tune he would come running and jump onto my lap, settling down as neat as anything. After a minute or two he would come 'out of the trance' and remove himself! We used the opening bars of the tune as a whistle to call him in from the garden. |
