Growing up too quick?

Well my little evils are now 4 months and Ted has decided he likes his sister a bit too much!!!!

I have spotted him several times licking his sister in a place i would rather he didn't and he tends to follow her around with his nose stuck to her bum.

This morning he tried to mount her!!!!

So is he becoming a big boy or is his sister coming into heat???

I will be ringing the vet tomorrow anyways but last time i spoke she said she wouldn't neuter them until 6 months old. I am not sure i can last two more months!!!

How can i stop him?

Re: Growing up too quick?

Ask your vet...they often will do by weight if you think you want to do it earlier than that. Mine will do as early as 4.5 depending on weight and 'behaviour'

I had my boy done a bit earlier than planned for the same reason. He was almost twice as big as his sister so she didn't stand a chance otherwise

Re: Growing up too quick?

If your vet won't neuter until 6 months ring around and see if you can find one that will do it earlier. It certainly sounds as if your boy is growing up

Re: Growing up too quick?

I have just spoke to the vet. They said that even if Ted had matured they can't do anything until 5 months at the earliest. I ask what I was meant to do for a month until then as Ted is really showing some loving to Lily the response was wait a month !!!

I am going to do a ring round the vets hopefully someone can help?

Ring around, you should at least see if someone will neuter at 4.5 months, thats the earliest I found when ringing several vets. Also mention his weight as if he's big they will be more likely to do it, what is his weight btw?

Re: Growing up too quick?

Change the vets, I had same problem. My little boy got cabin fever started behaving in a way and I knew the hormones would be coming! my other cat became all territorial which included weeing & pooing on my kitchen work surfaces and all over my cream suede curtains! The vet refused to give him the snip until he was 6 months.
I rang round and explained the signs and the vet said not to feed him pop him down in the morning and they would decide if he was big enough to do, so I did that and no problem, Alfie was snipped at 4 1/2 months.

Re: Growing up too quick?

He is 1.9 kilos, Lily has started hissing and scratching Ted i think she has had enough of the attention now.

I am going to do some internet research tonight many of the local vets are online round here so hoping one of them may mention early neuter on their website. If not at least i can collate a list of vets in the area to question.
