Chewy is driving me crazy!

Hi,

My two cats have now settled down (only taken about 6 months lol) although they dont like each other but will tolerate it, one comes in and one goes out they are a bit like passing ships lol.

Anyway Chewy my youngest cat is about 7 months old, she has been spade, chipped etc, when i took her the vets to be 'done' the vet asked what i had been feeding her as she was fat, so i told her and she adv to stop giving her milk (cat milk) and i told her i can leave dry biscuits all day and she wont eat them even if she hasn had wet food for a whole day, she told me to mix it up and not to give her more than 1.5 puches or half a tin a day.

Chewy acts like i have never fed her and im by no means being a little ott, i have had to resort to giving her 2 tablesoons of food at a time as she eats it so quick she makes herself ill, when she has finished eating she will root around the kitchen looking for anything my kids have dropped

She will then go for my older cats food, which i have now had to cover so she cant eat that.

should i start to give her dry biscuits on their own now aswell as mixing it with wet food?

Im also getting seriously fed up with finding her on my kitchen sides, i chuck her outside now when i see her on theri as i really dont like it, my older cat never does that and im finding chewy to be quite stressful.

She goes out now all day and i have seen her doing the business in the neighbours garden so i know she doesn need her litter tray how do i get rid of it at night time?

Thanks

Emma and the very naughty Chewy

Re: Chewy is driving me crazy!

Hi there.

I'm by no means an expert and still researching the best foods for my two cats. My suggestion is though to look at the quality of food you are feeding. I have got fantastically invaluable advice from members here and if you look at the a - z of wet and dry foods on here written by Hobbs you'll see that not all foods are created equal. What do you feed Chewy? The case might simply be that per weight of serving, there simply isn't enough nutrients in the food so Chewy goes looking for more.

Hope this helps?

Dave

Re: Chewy is driving me crazy!

It does sound as though Chewy may not be getting enough from her food.At 7 months I am surprised that your vet thought her to be fat.It is unusual for a kitten to be overweight.I 'm not certain of this but I dont think 1 and a half pouches is anywhere near enough for a growing kitten. It may help to have a read of hobbs a-z lists A-Z of wet food for cats A-Z of dry food for cats You will get lots of info on the different brands and types of food.I would def leave her dry biscuits separate. As for the litter tray unless she has outdoor access through the night, which is not ideal,I would stick with a litter tray for her or you could have accidents.
