My cat wont use litter tray

Hi

I have 4 cats three of them use their litter tray fine and dont seem to have any problems with them anymore.
One of them though Nibbler isnt using it and its getting really frustrating cleaning up the toilet off the carpet all the time. When we got him from a kitten last March the people told me he was litter trained which didnt seem to be the case as even though we kept putting him in the tray he did go on the carpet. For a while though he was good and used his tray recently though he has been going in our bath and the last week has been going on the carpet again right near the tray but not going in it. Every time I put him in it he is desperate to get back out and dont know what to do.

Any advice?

Thanks

Tracy

How many litters trays do you have for the cats as general rule of thumb is one per cat plus one extra, I would get him checked in case of a uti but maybe try different litters as he may not like the litter you use.

I only have one large litter tray would be able to have anymore as dont have the space. I change the litter completely every 5-7 days im using litter called Purr and simple cause it lasts really well and doesnt need clearing out as much.

Well if you only have one tray that will most likely be why hun. They say you're supposed to have one tray per cat plus one extra, so you have 1 instead of 5.

Unless you can get at least another couple of trays I'm not sure what else to suggest as this is the most likely cause.

Some cats prefer to use one tray for poo and one for wee, and others prefer not to use the same tray as other cats.

Re: My cat wont use litter tray

I would say that you need more litter trays I have two cats and two trays, the trays sit next to each other in the kitchen, if I take a tray away the stop using the trays completely and will wee next to it, so get some extra trays. Also not sure what the purr and simple litter is like but maybe try changing it more often as well.
