Why does my cat always want to cause fights?

Everytime he see's another cat, even if it's in it's own garden minding it's own business, Bunk will run up to it and try and pick a fight!

It's driving me mad as he's been to the vets several times now with abscesses because of it, it's driving me mad!

I'm assuming he is neutered,if not then get him done. Some cats are just "territorial" and their territory does not respect fences.Dont know really if you can do much to stop him, short of keeping him indoors.

I know how you feel my cat went through a phase of this even after being neutered he is very terrotorial - if he isnt neutered then this could be a big reason as to why he is picking fights also may be trying to mate abcesses are horendous arent they - another way of limiting the fighting is to not let them out after a certain time at night when a lot of cats are around

Re: Why does my cat always want to cause fights?

Thanks guys.

There are only 6 houses where I live and every house has a cat! There's:

Phoebe-HUGE MONSTER cat that rules the area, all cats (even Bunk) are terrified of her.

Jessie-Siamese Cat who is the only cat Bunk isn't bothered about. She follows him around which is quite cute...

Winston and Churchill-Lovely cats who don't want to fight really, they just use our garden to get to their house.

He is neutered, and acts like butter wouldn't melt when we are around!

How old is Bunk? It may be age related also. When my Thomas was younger he was always picking fights with everyone dispite having him neutered at the usual age. Now he's older and much wiser he tends to stick closer to home and even has a few male friends in the neighbourhood.

Re: Why does my cat always want to cause fights?

He's about 6yrs. He's a pain in the bum.

When we first started letting him out he was fine, just watched what all the other cats were doing. Then he started to get cocky with them all.

Am I doing wrong by seperating them when I hear them growling at each other?
