Weird Behaviour ??

Hello,

I have a 3, nearly 4yr old neutered male cat.

He has a couple of weird behaviours, which I would like some advice on.

The first is covering up food bowls (with food in) will use anything to cover.

The second is sort of humping my arm!! He will jump up on my lap and grab hold of my sleeve and have happy feet with front paws!! Moving bottom every now and again..!!

He is a bit weird but I don’t mind.

Any ideas as to why he does either would be helpful.

Thanks

Jen

Re: Weird Behaviour ??

The digging/covering is natural behaviour as he is trying to hide where he's been so is covering his tracks as it were, like when he buries his business in the litter tray/garden.

Covering the food I always think of normal behaviour. My own cat does it and as others have said it's what they would do in the wild. The 'humping' I have seen on TV, I think it was a channel 4 vet programme where a cat did it on cushions. The owner was told to remove the cushions as it was the texture 'softness' that attracted the cat and to give the cat his own space which in this casewas to buy a cat tree with a high up platform where the cat could have his own space and feel secure. The behaviour then stopped. I don't know if this helps you, is only when you have soft material on such as a jumper? If you want to try and search for the programmer I think it was on last year and called embarrasing pets or something like that.
