Teenage behaviour?

Harry is 6 months old now and he's become really shouty lately! Is this normal teenage behaviour? He's not showing any signs of illness and when he's relaxed he's as lovely as ever. He was done about a month ago and I thought cats were supposed to calm down after neutering?!

He gets 3 or 4 play sessions a day as OH works from home (poor guy, hope he's actually getting SOME work done, lol) but if it stops before Harry's had enough he has a special, very loud, 'play with me' meow which he keeps doing til one of us gives in!

I wonder if he might be bored with his toys. I was thinking of getting him one of those things with the balls that whizz round inside (hopefully someone knows what I mean!) so he doesn't always need one of us to throw or dangle something for him. Are they any good? Any other recommendations?

Re: Teenage behaviour?

Some kittens/cats are noisy by nature.Meeko my Raggie kitten nearly 11 months old yells for fun Sometimes after a real bout of activivity he will yell, running around the house like a thing possessed I've found it is actually better to reduce play slowly until we are playing a gentle relaxing game of hide and seek the mouse or something less "active".As for toys, try rotating his toys, some out ,some in the cupboard for a few weeks, then change them round. The chase toys I can think of are these, Senses Play Circuit Cat Toy by Cat It | Pets at Home Cheese Chase 3-in-1 Cat Toy by Petstages | Pets at Home ,shop around ,may find them cheaper.Cat Play Cube...The Ultimate Fun Toy - Green - £4.99 : Pinky Pawz - Simply ... the cats whiskers!, Pinky Pawz - Simply ... the cats whiskers! this is another popular item but it is not very robust, seems to be enjoyed by most cats/kittens.Although it is another dangler toy have you tried this yet. Great deals on cat toys at zooplus: Cat Dangler Pole Bird with Genuine Feathers you are practially guaranteed to have an exhausted kitten after 15/20 minutes.Hope this helps. Meant to add meeko has all of these toys and has great fun with them some he has had for months and still enjoys them.

Re: Teenage behaviour?

Thanks Buffie
Harry has always been quite a chatty boy and it's very endearing til he's yelling at us while we're trying to eat dinner

The Cheese Chase toy was the kind of thing I had in mind. Might be worth a trip to our local P@H this weekend.

We haven't tried a feather dangly toy yet. It'd be worth trying it just to see if it's possible to exhaust him, lol. The teenage terror in question is currently curled up asleep like a little angel of course
