Question Older Cat problem

We've just adopted a 10 year old female cat. She is a lovely, laidback cat who does not go outdoors (and shows no signs of wanting to)but there is a major problem!!! She will not use her litter tray and seems to be scared of it. We're using the litter recommendec by the Rescue Centre, we've showed her where the tray is and the tray is large enough for her.

PLEASE does anyone have any ideas as to what we do next?

Re: Older Cat problem

Hi and welcome to the forum. How long have you had your cat and what/where is she using as a toilet.Probably a silly question but is the litter tray a new /unued by any one else one,is it covered or open, and where have you put it.She will possibly take a few weeks to settle in her new home and may just be very unsure at the mo.You could try another tray ,as well as the one you are using, with a different type of litter in it.Hope someone with a bit more experience in "toilet"matters comes along soon.

Re: Older Cat problem

She's been with us just over a week. What concerns us is her attitude towards the tray. She REALLY freaks when you put her near it. Its a new one we bought espeacially for her.

Re: Older Cat problem

Did you speak to the rescue centre? Did she use a litter tray while she was there?

Re: Older Cat problem

According to the rescue centre she was a very clean cat who had no problem using the tray.

Godd news is that she used it today to have a wee However, last night, she didn't use it for a poo

Re: Older Cat problem

Where is the tray? It might be something to do with what is near it?
