Our 11 week old kitten is really weird. He likes to cuddle up to my neck and "suckle" on it whilst padding me with his paws? He will only do this to me and not my boyfriend. We have had many kittens before and this is the first that has done this. It was cute at first, but is now beginning to annoy me as he likes to do it when he wakes up ... usually at 4am when I am fasters!!

Has anyone else experienced this?

Our two youngest Maine Coons do this is fact one is washing my hand and nibbling at me as I am typing!!! They both have a habit of kneading me as well....very cute but can get a bit much!!!

I am sure they will grow out of it but it is probably a case of being firm when you don't want them to do it and making them get off or moving away from them!!! I think it is just their way of being comforted though.

I think it is just one of those kitten things, and will grow out of it, bless.

I agree with the above,some of our kitts do this and we just remove them and distract them,then they do suckle each otherDThink it's just a comfort thing

I think its adorable! My Saffron used to do it to my pink fluffy dressing gown - she would suckle and dribble all over it whilst pawing at it. Its just a comfort thing

I must admit, I love it when I am sitting down and they come and cuddle up with me! It's nice to know that they trust us and come to us for comfort. Even my husband puts up with it, although he pretends he doesn't like it and he doesn't really approve of the cats sharing the bed with us!

Both OH and me used to really love it when my old (deceased) Maine Coon used to snuggle down in bed between us.

I have 2 new adopted MCs but they have not shown any inclination to snuggle like Sylvester. They both come on the bed and the female sleeps on top between us or at the end some nights.

Interestingly the male likes to grab a throw in his teeth and stands paddy pawing like billio. Wonders if he is simulating and/or getting comfort.

I heard somewhere that when they "knead" "paw" its a comfort thing - maybe they did it when first born and feeding with their mums.

This is the action that most kittens do to there mum for milk. mine still did this even when he was a adult. Im afraid he use to do this in the early hours also. His other favourite thing was to stand on my chest when im laying in bed and stand over my face but he had a habit of dribbling so if i wasnt on the ball id end up with a early morning wash.... Nice.
