Litter Problem
Hi. I have a two year cat who has always been very clean and used her litter tray, but very recently has started to go to the toilet in a certain corner of the room. I don't know why she is doing this and I don't know how to stop her. We also have a kitten who we have finally finished litter training. However, she saw the older cat doing this, and this morning copied her. Does anyone have any advice as it's driving me crazy!

Re: Litter Problem
Hi. Thank you for your response. She is only pooing out of the litter tray. Strangely she always goes back to the tray to wee. Her and the kitten have been using it together quite well for a few weeks so I don’t know if that is the reason. The only thing I can think of is that a stray tom keeps coming in through our cat flap – do you think this may be related?

Agree with this. Poo is probably a bigger 'flag' to tell other cats 'this is my territory' than wee. |

Re: Litter Problem
Last night I went to the area where they keep pooing and found LOADS of wee! We scrubbed the whole area and locked the cat flap, so if it was the tom then hopefully this will all stop, right......? We also put down food as someone said they don't like to go to the toilet where they eat. Arghhhh - this is driving me mad!

Re: Litter Problem

rolleyes:, (they just seemed to 'go off' the litter for some reason) anyway its sorted now - ![]() ![]() you will get there in the end with your 2 ![]() ![]() |

Re: Litter Problem
I agree with the posts I would use Simple Solution after cleaning to get rid of any scent.
I would also put a hooded litter tray on that spot. Your cats may feel secure and private toileting there. I'm not very house proud we had a litter tray in our main living room, I've moved it to the hallway now. I have at least three litter trays dotted about the house, I prefer the kittens to have easy access to a tray. Mine have used the bath and the dogs bed once - I didn't put a litter tray there I denied them access to those areas - so far so good. ![]() Good luck. Sue |
