Kitten wanted for loving home- central scotland

Hi there,

I'm currently looking for a kitten between 6-12weeks old, can be male or female. Must be good around other cats as I have a 6 months old neutered male, and want a companion for him as he has been lonely since my cat went missing Will be well looked after and much loved. Willing to pay £40-50.

Thanks
Suzanne

6 weeks old would be far too early to seperate a kitten from it's mother. Typically they are seperated around 10-12 weeks. Please don't adopt a kitten who is younger than this as they may experience issues (attachment, health) later on. Others may disagree but I've personally raised kittens and found 9-12 weeks is a good time to begin the seperation process.

Saying that... why a kitten? I'm currently fostering a lovely 18 month old fluffy tabby kitty who would absolutely love a new caring home where she can get lots of cuddles!

Sorry Fluffosaur, I didn't know this, the only reason I said from 6 weeks is that both cats I have had have been from that age after vet approval. I want a younger one as I think my current kitten will take better to a younger kitten rather than an older one coming into his territory.

Honestly, the age of the cat being introduced usually has very little baring on how well they will get on! If the kitten you introduce is not used to other cats (which it won't be) or your other cats get jealous then you could have fights on your hands regardless.

6 weeks is very very young for a kitten to be away from it's mother. Vets approve from that age because that is technically when a kitten can feed on it's own but it's emotional and physical nurturing takes place right up until 12 weeks and beyond. 9 weeks is generally considered to be a good release age by breeders on this forum.

You should try local rescues to see if they've had any unexpected kitten litters. I know that the RSPCA currently charge £75 for a kitten with kitten pack so you may need to pay a bit extra depending on the rescue you use.

At the moment we're well out of "kitten season" (usually May-August) when all the cats go crazy and get pregnant in the warm weather so rescues may be short on kittens. You never know though!
