Advice on a "found" kitten
Well, last night one of my cats wouldn't come in and kept meowing. When I went out to investigate he was with a small kitten. Eventually they both came in. The kitten looks to be in good shape and is very friendly so I guessed she had a home somewhere. She looks to be about 3-4 months old. I have kept putting her out but she (or he) didn't go away and was still waiting outside this morning.
Its been horrible cold windy weather so I've let her come in for a sleep. Local enquiries revealed where she lived but when I went round the house looks to be shut up so not sure if they've gone away (and left a young kitten out ) or moved and left her Anyway, she is still here She seems to have made herself very at home. After I fed her she even went right on and used the litter tray and now she is curled up fast asleep.
The problem is I cannot keep her permanently. I can't afford another cat and I'm also concerned about my other 2 cats getting upset (they are litter mates). There is a chance that her owners still want her as she does appear to have been well looked after. I tried to call the vets today to see if they could check to see if she is chipped but they are shut. Does anyone know anywhere else I could scan her. I could also ask around to see if anyone wants a kitten. Then there are cat charities but would they be prepared to take her? (I live in the Leeds area) Would anyone on the forum know of a good home? I have never been in this situation before.
Also does anyone have any advice on lessening the shock for my other 2 cats while she is here. The one who "found" her seems more puzzled by her than anything but my other cat is more sensitive.
Any help appreciated.
