Because some years ago we stumbled upon a box of kittens that had been dumped behind a bus shelter. (All very ordinary black and white moggies at first glance) We managed to get homes for all but one which we were told had rickets and should be pts. Further investigations of the kittens health found this to be untrue. We decided to keep the kitten in the end and called her 'Sonar' because of her remarkably big ears. She was always a slinky looking cat (skinny to most) which was a constant concerned to us. The vet said it was her genes but didn't really know what breed, or what breed was more dominant in her. Now I have just stumbled across your photos and the Taupe coloured cat is an absolute identi-fit likeness of her.
Sonar lived for 12 years and died of nephritis. A condition I was told was common amongst cats?

thanks for your lovely comments, yes i think you will find you probably had an abbysinian. If you look at a strand of their hair it looks 3 different colours, he is a cross with something else, but he has true abbysinian colours, he was alot slimmer and has in the last year or too got a little big, but his ears looked alot longer when he was small, just so cute. i will add another close up of him:
