It what we call sharping claws on stuff. I don't know where the term came from, but I remember my mother using it for her cats during my childhood. Her cats were always spagging the carpet.

Fantastic!! Three cheers for black cats . He has that 'mean and moody' look that only black cats seem to have Gizmo has it down to an art Thomas looks really sleek and gorgeous
