Meet Moggy

thought i would introduce you all to my special little lady, excuse the fact that she has a cage, it is her "safety zone" where she will run to when she feels scared, and also safety for our small fuzzies at night time when there is no human supervision, as she is a feral cat who has had to hunt to live.

she has officially been in the family (in the house) since last monday, but had been in our garden for a year, we have been feeding her since the summer, when she got dangerously skinny.

she is coming round to me very quickly and its amazing to see the change (considering when i eventually caught her i ended up with 2 infected hands for my efforts but i would do it again) she now purrs when i stroke her and asks me for fusses

also before any one suggests it, the first thing i did when i caught her was take her to get her scanned, she has a chip, and has been missing for over a year, and her old owners didnt want her back

any way, here is my moggy

Re: Meet Moggy

I have mixed emotions about this post.Sad that her original owners had given up on her But sooo happy that she now has a loving home She looks very content in the pictures and she reminds me of my boy Smedley (rip) he was black and white too.

Re: Meet Moggy

yeah i have mixed emotions too, so sad that her original owners could just give up on her and not even want to see her again, made me so angry. but i suppose you cant blame them for getting a new cat after a year (the reason they didnt want her back was because they didnt think she would get on with their new cat)
but at the same time i would have hated to have to give her back too

i am so glad she is inside now though, expecially with how nasty the weather is, before i managed to catch her, me and mum made her a temporary bed in an empty compost bin to give her somewhere warm, dry and sheltered to sleep

she is only young, about 3 years the vet reckons, and 1 of those has been spent living feral in my garden

the only thing i cant do with her at the moment is pick her up, but she is still terrified of my parents, and the moment they move she will dash into her crate and hide

shes quite an interesting case though, as she is microchipped, but shes also ear tipped, which indicated shes been caught and spayed as a feral, surly they would have scanned her before re releasing?
she also, as im sure you noticed, only has 1 eye. it would be interesting to know if that happened before or after she got lost, but we weren't allowed any contact with the old owners, due to the DPA

Re: Meet Moggy

She's lovely. Re the missing eye, am I right in thinking that a vet would have had to surgically remove it after an injury or infection? I have a cat who's blind in his left eye from an injury before we got him, he got a thorn in the eye, and it wasn't treated when it should have been, but the eye was still in place though horrible looking. The vet wanted to remove it but it settled down and hasn't caused him any problems these last twelve years, even though it's all white and has no sight. He copes fine with just the one eye, as I'm sure your puss does.

Re: Meet Moggy

i think you are right, but if shes been captured and spayed, then released, they might have sorted an eye problem out for her first?

Re: Meet Moggy

She's a sweetie Such a shame that her original owners didn't want her but on the other hand she has certainly landed on her paws with you:thumbup. Hope she continues to settle in with you and become more trusting of people in general

Re: Meet Moggy

well iv nipped to the vets this afternoon to check if shes officially been signed over to me yet, and im pleased to say she has, the most shocking thing is, the old owner put their addrease on the note, and im now convinced they cant have looked for her like they said they apparently did, her old home was on the next road over......... if they had looked, they would have found her

iv contacted the microchip company to get her chip changed, but they need to send out a form to do it, oh well, ill just have to sit and wait, rather impatiently lol

oh also another thing that makes me wonder what happened to the eyes, how owners are registered with my vets (only vets in the village) yet the cat never was, and the vets never saw her.....
