You could get some evening primrose oil for pets - that not only will address the dandruff but will also help the healing of that sore. Alternatively, get some salmon oil and feed that daily for a week or two to condition the fur and skin. You will see results pretty quickly. Or you could get some brewer's yeast flakes and sprinkle some on for a while. Or some velcote. Lots of options, and any of these are full of vitamins and fatty acidsto help with skin condition.
My Gizzys dandruff is clearing up nicely with yumega oil. I got it from pets at home and it is a mix of salmon and evening primrose oils.

Just echoing the other advice you have had re the worming and flea treatments.

You have a few options. Pets at home sell frontline and drontol off the shelf, every vet will sell you frontline and drontol/panacur, and you can buy these all online too! If you want one of the "newer" combi spot ons (there are various brands) then you would need a vet consultation and have it prescribed.

AS for the spot. It could be related to the flea treatment, it could be where a tic had been attatched and has got slightly infected, and it could also be something else entirely.

If its not cleared up by the weekend then its time for a trip to the vets to get it checked out. In the meantime wash it with cool boiled salty water, and make sure you wash your hands thoroughly just incase its something infectious like the early stages of ringworm.
Thank you for your help.
Hope it wasn't a tick!!!! (I have tick's in my room???)
it's already looking a lot better! smaller, redness has gone down considerably... so relieved but will keep checking - I don't want it to flair up again.

I'll look into those suggestions and wont touch the bob martin stuff again.

thank you

tablets type? oil suppliements that is to add to her food?
I did get some cod liver oil for her and put it in her food but she refused that.. just wouldn't touch her food at all! not tried Salmon yet (she loves tuna) I'll give that a try if she refuses that then I'll have to try the brewers yeash... sprinkle on her food?

I'll try the options you suggested - and hopefully that will solve that issue - I wasn't sure if I'd have to give her a shower which I think she would hate and now that she has that red sore it took that option away as I didn't want to inflame it - it has calmed down a lot, got smaller and so much less red than yesterday

thank you

The evening primrose oil is an oil supplement. If you have a pets@home near you then you can pick up that oil that the other poster has mentioned, which contains both evening primrose oil and salmon oil - double the power!

they don't have it listed on their website but I could go there tomorrow - can't today have serious deadline to meet ... the store is the other side of London so it would take about 3 hours to get there and back!
I think the primrose and salmon oil combined sounds like a good option.

Neo is currently racing around the room oblivious that I've just spent an hour looking up all these products

thank you

Re: Help... cat has red sore - what is it?

This one seems to have the cheapest price if you want to go with the Yumega oil: Yumega Cat Omega Oil 50ml - £6.71 or you can order the Dean's one from their website or chance an independent pet store.

(3 hrs seems a tad far - I would order it online but that is because I hate being stuck in traffic)

I paid £8.99 for the yumega in pets at home. I know i could of got it cheaper online but as I was there anyway I just grabbed it.

the bottle says it has enough for a couple of months worth of treatment for 1 normal size cat.

I have been putting it onto the food with no problems and no turning up of noses! put it in my other cats food as well as they usually swap bowls half way through dinner and I thought it wont hurt him to have the oil too.

I'll try the cold liver oil until I can get the other ones mentioned in this thread - might try a tiny tiny drop as she would touch her food when I put the whole capsule in.
I just got her some salmon and she got all excited then took one lick and walked off??!??!?!?!
*sigh*
it's like having a little awkward toddler about the place (well, ok.. a hundred times easier!)
might take awhile to get her to take this stuff!
