Re: Anyone had pet live to good age fed on 'standard' food?

[QUOTE=Siamese Kelly;189375]I agree on some of what Crofty says-for onceBut not everyone can stretch the extra few pence and thats just the way the world is-and if it weren't for whiska's(not something we give our lot either) and Felix and the like some cats would never eat....i like that your not willing to argue over cat food DNC as some people really have done their backed up research and is worth taking on board their opinions, some others however have info based on net facts or someone i know blah blah...so why not buy fresh meat and cook or not yourself -it can work out cheaper and is far better as you know 100% what your cats/dogs are eating then tooAj has great info on raw diet if your interestedCrofty also has some fab info that appears to be correct and i think she has clearly been to seminars etc so also worth giving a thought too[/QUOTE

the cooking your own meat thing -
I don't feel happy doing my own, would love to know they are eating healthy but I am vegetarian and hate raw meat.

Also does anyone know - why are foods like Applaws just a supplement? Is it because there are no bones in there just meat? And no veg/fibrous stuff?

lol thanks kelly

Its a difficult one because yes people cant always afford the very expensive options however i dont think for example natures menu is that much more expensive than whiskas. Im a great believer in that if you have any animal you should be prepared to give them the best you can. Im far from well off but i have the responsibilty to my animals to makesure they are in the best health possible otherwise i just wouldnt have them.... infact they eat better than me!! haha.

Homemade food is a great and the best i think way of feeding your cat if you know your stuff (i dont know enough on that!) am still learning myself

sleeptalker will become famous soon enough
Re: Anyone had pet live to good age fed on 'standard' food?

my eldest mog will be 14 soon and he has morrisons cat food, one wet in the morning shared between the 3, then dry throughout the day. he is never ill, ( touch wood), and the vet said he has teeth for a cat half his age, ( at the vets for a tick). have always assumed that as moggies, they live longer as they have less heredity things.
