Blood in kitten stool!?

I went to clean out the litter tray and found that there was blood in bibis stool. I was quite red and fresh looking. Is this normal? We are going to the vets anyway on tuesday, should i just get her checked out then or is this serious?
She is about 13 weeks now and seemed pretty normal today. im so worried about the poor thing.

Re: Blood in kitten stool!?

Hi

The same thing happened to my Poppy when she was a kitten. The blood looked fresh and I was really worried. I kept an eye on things and it cleared up after a couple of weeks. Apparently, kittens can get either piles or anal fissures (small cuts) due to the change in their diet. I'm not saying that this is fine, and as you're going to the vets on Tuesday anyway I'd check, but this was my own experience.

Any bleeding should be taken seriously, but some things can be really simple.

I'm by no way an expert, so I would ask your vet anyway.

Hope all goes well

Leigh

Thanks for the advice Leigh. I was just very worried because i know its very serious if a human has blood in their poop and it needs to be checked out staight away. Hopefully the vet will shed some light on why its happening.
