Could she be in heat?? help please...

My Kitten is only just under 5 months and has been behaving very strangely... She has been making little yelping/ squeaking type noises since last night and has been rolling about & rubbing against the carpet and sofa alot more than usual. Could she be in heat or is she too young? She has been super affectionate for the last week but i'm not sure if this is to do with her not being allowed to sleep in my room anymore after scratching my eye.

She is eating and playing as normal.

I have her on the waiting list for her wee op.

Can anyone offer any advice? Do I need to take her to the vet?

PLease help!

Sounds like she may well be - is she "presenting" her bum?! Just make sure she doesn't get out.

Hi,

It looks like she may indeed be maturing, You dont mention how long is the waiting list but I am sure there no need to try to speed things up. You will just have a week or so of this strange behaviour.

IMHO,

Barbara

No - she isnt presenting her bum yet - sounds lovely though!! She is an indoor cat so no chance of her getting out! What a relief - i did suspect it but thought she was too young!

I think I will chase up the amimal home to where she is on the waiting list for her op!

I hope she doesnt start howling like some of the other posters have mentioned -perhaps I should stock up on some sleep nowjust incase

Hi

Two of my cats, when they were approx 5 months old, started acting strangely! I thought that Lola (RIP) had hurt her back as she was crawling along the floor with her bottom in the air! Once we realised that she was showing signs of being on heat, we called it the "Lola Dance"!. Her sister followed approx. 2 weeks later!

Cats can definately become mature early. Just make sure she doesn't get out!

Regards,
Leigh, Millie, Poppy & Daisy
