How many times a day do you feed your cats?

Sorry for all the questions, but what with getting my new baby, and reading the food threads, its got me thinking about things I usually do without thinking

I have heard you are meant to feed cats 3 times a day, but I have always tended to feed my cats a little more. They like little and often. Also I have found that my cats have always been more hungry in the evening say between 7-12pm than in the day, do you find this too?

Mine have dry food down all days and wet or raw three times a day; First thing in the morning, late afternoon and before I go to bed.

Mine are fed twice a day (main meals) with a small breakfast (not really a meal, just some treats).

I leave James Wellbeloved Kitten dry food out all day with fresh water.

I give them a tin of Applaws between them in the morning and another early evening.

Re: How many times a day do you feed your cats?

This is something else I am reviewing as well as their diet as I have got into the bad habit of feeding more or less constantly. As I have five cats I was always worried that one wouldn't be getting enough food if she was out when I put the food down before I went to work. I have one rather 'tubby' cat, two that are slightly 'tubby' and two that are much thinner (although one of these is nursing and the other is younger and extremely active). I pop home constantly throughout the day to check on the animals and whenever I see an empty food dish I fill it - even when I get up to go to the loo in the early hours of the morning.

I'm going to try to limit feeding their wet food to three times a day (three of mine are mature moggies and seem to prefer little and often) and leave some dried food down as well. My only concern with that is that the thinner one won't get enough to eat. My nursing queen I am feeding separately anyway and I will continue to feed her lots - she has five hungry fur babies to feed

My cats have food down all day (Hills Science Plan) as well as water.

Like cats do they eat little and often.

Talking Re: How many times a day do you feed your cats?

I feed my three dry food (Go cat) in the AM, Hubby gives them a bit more at lunchtime and then they have wet food in the evening. They also have the odd little bit of ham or chicken depending on what we have around. I can't leave dry around because the dog eats it and is decidedly more chunky since the cats arrived! She trys to stare them out when they're eating in the hope they'll give up
