On heat cat "squatting"

Our youngest cat(3 yrs) who we are shortly going to have spayed has developed a strange and slightly concerning behaviour during her latest season.

It appears to be too painful for her to sit normally, and she is adopting more of a "squat" as though she were about to pee.

Is this something to be concerned about, or is it not totally uncommon behaviour?

Stuart

No, lol, don't worry, it's perfectly normal. Their first few calls are usually subtle, then after that you get the full blow thing. Mine crawl like commando style bums aloft, hahaha.

Re: On heat cat "squatting"

It's not the calling (I'm used to her shouting), it's this unusual sitting posture (and I'm even used to her waving her bum in the air), and she is becoming very withdrawn.

Re: On heat cat "squatting"

Yea calling can cause alsorts of hormonal problems. It's all normal behaviour. Though to us it can look distressing at times. She will be fine once shes speyed.

Re: On heat cat "squatting"

I'd keep a close eye on her wee's Indigo,by 3yrs old she should well be in some sort of calling pattern/behaviour and if she hasn't been mated in a while she could have some kind of infection-although what the others have said may well be true but i would be watching her closely

Re: On heat cat "squatting"

Hi if she`s constantly squatting to wee, sometimes doing tiny drops or none she could have a urinary infection.
cats are the biggest tease out!waggling bums in front of expectant boys only then to growl and move off!they are terrible tarts

Re: On heat cat "squatting"

Well she appears to be back to normal, and able to sit normally.

She's still calling, and this appears to have just been a particularly bad patch for her.
