Red face Cats bottom

Hi

Noticed our cat has something by her bottom, looks very dark and dry and is about 2cm long. Doesn't bother her at all but today we noticed (well OH did) a little bit of blood next to it, so we're off to the vets at 5.30 today. In appearance it almost looks like a twig, we have tried to very gently see if it could be removed in case she had got something stuck up there but its definately attached to her.

She's all up to date with worming treatments and injections etc.. just wondered if anyone had any ideas what it might be?

Her weight is a little on the heavy side round her tummy (definately not expecting though as shes been done) but when she had her injections a few months back we mentioned her size but they said she was fine and had a good feel and said everything was well. She is definately flabby on her undercarriage though

Just hope its something simple

Re: Cats bottom

Being neutered leaves them with a slightly wobbly tum - think it's the loose skin around where the bits once were.

No idea about the thing on bum - doesn't sound attractive.........

Female cats, once spayed, get a droopy hangy bit where they had the op. It's like baggy skin. My female has a lot of droopy skin, but she's naturally a small skinny cat. So that shouldn't be anything to worry about.

I'm not sure about the other thing, definately something I would get checked out by the vet though, so good idea.

Good luck, hope she's OK!

Re: Cats bottom

well first the good news, turned out to be no more than poo !!!!! Cost us £19.99 to find that out so OH is cussing he never tried harder to remove it, thing is, you don't want to go poking and prodding in sensitive areas. Not sure why she never cleaned it herself, it was there a while and she wasn't at all smelly Took the vet a bit of wiping and then it came away. She'd also managed to get a petal stuck right in the corner of her eye today so we got the vet to remove that while she was there.

Now for the bit. This was a new local vet we tried as our usual one is a longer car journer away and as it was hot we thought we'd give this one a try. SELL SELL SELL IS WHAT THEY TRIED TO DO THROUGH THE WHOLE VISIT! He said the whole place was set up more like a shop than a vets!

Hubby said they told him mmmmm yes shes a little overweight, lets get you booked in with the dietician but he said no thank you, so he started on about the food, then he told the vet yes we had worming tablets at home (milbemax or whatever they are called) and he still tried to sell some other tablet. Then he tried to sell us flea treatment, again we already have front line (put some on her tonight actually).

So next time (which will hopefully just be when the injections are due) we're back up the road to the usual vet who just do whats needed and don't try to sell their products.

Re: Cats bottom

Glad to hear it was nothing more than poo-expensive way to clean ya bum but it's done now-made me chuckle when i read this ,as for the latter about the vet being like a shop-sadly we seem to be reading and hearing more posts and tales like this, can imagine you must have both been fumigating upon leaving-thankgod they're not your usual vet)

Re: Cats bottom

Definately an expensive bum wipe - what class your lady has.....

I hate vets like this and although I don't want to bad mouth all the wonderful ones out there - far far too many are like this. I think it's a little like GP's who get commission to prescribe certain medicines! The benefits they are being offered are obviously a little blinding for them
