Homeopathy

Do any other breeders on here treat their cats with homeopathic remedies, such as pregnant queens etc?
Do the remedies work for you?

Re: Homeopathy

We have used Bach Flower Remedies in the past, we have also used other homeopathic remedies for various issues. Haven't used any on a pregnant queen though.

Re: Homeopathy

I got rid of a bleeding pyometra once with homeopathy, but can't remember what I used nowrolleyes:. The vet prescribed it after talking to a specialist friend of hers. I remember being amazed that it had actually worked cos I thought she would have to be speyed. The cat had two calls then went on to have a successful litter

Do you mean raspberry leaf?
I've heard of that one, its the one you can give early on in pregnancy I believe. I was going to try it but was warned by someone that it could cause the queen to abort.
Ive given caulophyllum to my queens during labour and maybe its just coincidence but all the kittens were born quickly without too much straining for the queen.

Saynamore that does surprise me, Ive never had a Pyo case but have heard they normally use conventional drugs to treat it so am surprised you have a vet who recommended the other instead.
Is there any chance of you remembering what it was you gave your girl as I would like to keep this in mind if needed in future?

Re: Homeopathy

I've used caulophyllum for all my queens, during labour and chamomilla to reduce any pain. Homeopathy also helped with Alice's milk supply for last 2 litters. On the first one her milk didn't come in, and it was a struggle with the kittens. But after a couple of days of treatment, it did come in and stayed. The second time I was prepared and she got the same treatment and it came in even quicker. I will have to go and look up what they were there were several, a couple she had in alternation and then another to kelp keep the milk there.

Arsen Alb is great for mild tummy upsets too.

Re: Homeopathy

It looks like the homeopathy remedies are quite successful for many. I use when required but have always wondered whether it was coincidental when it did work.

I have both drops and the pillules and am wondering what the shelf life is for them, I have some in my drawers at the moment that were bought last year and am wondering if I should replace them.

Re: Homeopathy

I think they last a while. You could always give Ainsworths a ring, they have an advice line. I get the soft pills because you can disolve them in a bit of cooled boiled water then suck it up a syringe and administer it.
