Best food for weight gain

Hi All

I have had my kittens now for a few weeks. Pumba has put on weight and is coming along nicely whereas Timone is a little skinny (I know Siam's are made this way) but I would like her to put on a bit of weight.

Any ideas on the best food to give her for this?

Thanks

Either is fine. I personally have always cooked the mince, but I have (and it's a very, very, tiny have lol) been considering trying some raw with our next babies.

How do you cook it? (daft question I know but what makes sense to me might not be best for my kitts)

Why are u not sure about feeding raw?

What about beef mince - is that not as good as lamb & rabbit?
Also does it need to be top quality mince?

Re: Best food for weight gain

I have given beef mince before as well but it doesn't put the weight on them in the same way that lamb/rabbit mince does. I only buy the human quality stuff, never the pet quality stuff that can be sold in pet shops.

This is my mince cooking recipe:
Place 500 grams of mince in a saucepan
Add ½ cup of water
Add 3 tablespoons of Goats Milk Probiotic Yoghurt
Add 1 egg yolk
Add small cubes of cheese (optional)
Add ½ teaspoon of Vegemite (or Marmite if you are British) (optional)
Stir whilst cooking
(Cooking Time: approximately 10 minutes)

It's odd about the raw really, have never been happy to feed raw to the cats. I did try it once with chicken wings, they looked at me like I was mad, yet years ago, my dog was on a total raw/natural diet and he did brilliantly on it. So why won't I feed it to the cats??????????? I have absolutely no idea

I use something called Xtra bloom wate. It's a powdered fat supplement for cats/kitten Dogs/puppies, it'd great. I sprinkle it on their raw meat, they love it

You can feed pretty much any raw meat to cats, cats are even better equiped to deal with raw meat than dogs. Salmonella is a risk but a small risk and cats are well equiped to deal with that risk. I feed mine, beef, lamb and chicken.
