Re: Best food for weight gain
My kittens are not fed totally on raw meat, they still have their biscuits and wet food daily too, but yes they get a portion of raw meat daily as a meal.
When they go to new homes the new owner is made aware that the kitten has been used to a certain amount of raw diet but also to conventional wet and dry cat food so they can either carry on with the raw or if they so wish just feed conventionally. This way there is no risk of upset tummies in their new homes. I guess you can say they get a taste of both worlds ![]() ![]() one or two of them though will probably not take to raw feeding but for the ones that do they look extremely good on it. My male cats in particular are very large and solid for their breed - well they do eat more of it ![]() I get my meat human grade from the supermarket, it has to be really fresh for cats as otherwise they will turn their nose up at stale meat. It doesn't have to be the lean expensive cuts, the fattier meat is better for them. I would not recommend feeding them exclusively on a raw meat diet as it is lacking in certain essential elements that is vital to the health of a cat such as taurine etc.
