BSH has calici and now a skin allergy!!!!!

My poor little BSH has been in the wars since I got him nearly 4 months ago! It started with cat flu which he was on antibiotics for. He has had his vaccinations as the breeder gave me his vaccination card. Then he developed mouth ulcers and was very poorly. The test results come back as positive for Calici. He is on Metacam and Interferon for this. Now he has very sore scabs above both his eyes. He got these before he started the interferon. The vet gave him an antibiotic injection and has given me some stuff to wash the scabs and steroid cream to put on them. The vet said he has not got fleas so he may have to have a test for allergies. I have now noticed a really large sore scab inside his ear. It has pus on it. I have put the cream on this scab but the poor little one yelped as I can imagine it is really hurting him. I feel so sorry for him as he has not had a good start in life with these illnesses! I just wish he will get better!

Oh god how awful! I would contact his breeder and let them know, his litter mates may also have been ill.

Re: BSH has calici and now a skin allergy!!!!!

I will contact him about it. I know that he has 2 more left and they are 8 months old now. I have spent so much money on vet bills. I have put an insurance claim in but I wont see the money back until after Xmas now. I just want to see him better. I think that the place I got him from was not the best. The conditions were not that great but I really loved him as soon as I saw him. The breeder was out of work and he bred his cats with another breeder as she put me in touch with him. Hopefully he will get better but if he has Calici then no doubt his brothers must have it as he is an indoor cat so cant see how he would contract it here. He had the cat flu when I first got him.. but I put that down to stress. I am a first time cat owner so trying to learn everything about them!

Yeah I agree it doesnt sound like he is a reputable breeder but I would still contact him. Its so unfortunate that its your first kitty and he has alot of health problems, I hope you get the money back from insurance.

Do you have any pics of your boy, what colour is he?

Just edited to add I see him in your avatar! lol hes lovely x Hope he gets all better soon.
