Re: Ruptured diaphragm
Thank you for your continued replies and encouragement. It really helps me to try and look forward as this is all getting me down quite badly now. My Boy is doing so well apart from the Tail/Toilet issues.
I am just a little worried how he will cope with another anesthetic such short time later. |

Re: Ruptured diaphragm
Well over the last week or so I have read up a lot on this broken tail thing and I am quite convinced the Tail is what is causing my boy all his problems so I would rather he lost his tail and be a happy Cat again then a poorly unhappy one with a dangling dead tail.
We will see what the Vet says this afternoon but I dare say a decision will have to be made today. Thanks again |

Re: Ruptured diaphragm
Saw the Vet tonight, he is pretty happy with all of Binx's healing but he told me my fears were correct and he is going to lose his Tail. I have to take him in Thursday or Friday to have it amputated.
My poor Baby, another week with the dreaded cone lolol xx |

Re: Ruptured diaphragm
Hi we had a 2 year old cat which had its diaphram repaired. It was a young healthy cat with no other health issues. No idea how it got the rupture. There was no trauma associated with a motor vehicle collision. Most probably the injury was sustained from jumping from height.
The stomach and liver had gone up into the cats chest cavity restricting its breathing and heart function. We had the repair done and it was pretty touch and go for a few days after the operation. I would say the cat was at deaths door for 3 days, but managed to pull through. We made it a bed and put water and a small amount of food next to it. When the cat was very sick you wonder whether it would have been best to put it to sleep. Slowly the cat got better. I would say it took about a month in total for the cat to fully recover. Now she is back to her own self, but somehow the bond and understanding is now stronger. I think it comes down to your cats will to pull through the operation and recovery. Its a pretty major ordeal, but if the cat is young and fit, it should pull through. |
