bloody stool/ then not pooing

hi there,

We have a 5 year old moggy called steve and he seems to have stopped pooing. he generally goes often and uses a litter tray at night as we have a kitten and he does not go out at night.

i noticed a few days ago a bit of slimy blood in his poo. have not seen any since but as of last night i dont think he has been for a poo. I have seen him peeing and he is alert and eating properly. He goes into litter tray and sits but does not do anything except meow. The problem being i have 3 cats and its quite hard to determine if he has been or not. But shall we say he has a easily recogonisable poo( big ) usually.

He is playing normally. just dont know if im going mad or not. i thought the bit of runny poo was because i didnt get the usual pet food for him.

any suggestions.

stuart

Re: bloody stool/ then not pooing

My cat used to have mucusy blood in her stools which was due to a small fissure in the bowel. Does your cat usually have constipation or the runs? If he's been straining due to constipation he could have torn a little bit of skin around his bum.

You could always ring your vet for advice. Maybe have a feel of his tummy to see if he's got a lot of 'matter' in his bowel.
