Exclamation Nefs just been sick HELP!!!

Nef was sleeping on the arm of the sofa. WHen she rose to get up her little body began to convulse. Her tounge hung out and lots of nasty sick came up. (Sorry don't want to be graphic but it was scary).

Nef is the only one at the moment who is up to date with her injections.

I think it may be the crap food I've been feeding them past few days. Been trying to use it up. How could I do that to her. I feel terrible and scared. She wasn't eating very much but its no wonder. She knows its bad for her.

Oh my baby my precious precious baby. What should I do for her? I've chucked all the nasty food out and I'll go and get some chicken to cook up. I guess I've got to starve her for 24 hours right? Oh my poor baby !! She's never done this before.

Also can chucking up be a sign of pregnancy in cats. She ran out a few days before bonfire night and was gone for 24 hours..

*Edit* Also just wondering can stress be a cause of sickness in cats?? Theres a lot of babies here maybe she isn't very happy about it...

Re: Nefs just been sick HELP!!!

Cats are sick sometimes - and it usually just food or biscuits. I would not worry unless she keeps doing it or it appears to be something other than food.
Also sometimes if the cat goes out, they eat grass and then you will see spit with grass in

Re: Nefs just been sick HELP!!!

I think it must have been the food. It had the biscuits in it that didn't look very well digested. I feel so sorry for her shes sitting in the hall with her back to every one. I really hope she is ok. I'm not feeding her that nasty crappy cat food anymore. Poor darling Nefertiti.

Re: Nefs just been sick HELP!!!

Sometimes they over-eat with biscuits which is why they look undigested. Its nothing to worry about.
You dont need to starve your cat

Re: Nefs just been sick HELP!!!

She just had a few more convulses of her body and out came a tiny bit more sick. But it was really just mucus not sick. Some thing has upset her tummy. If theres anymore she's off to the vets first thing tomorow!

Re: Nefs just been sick HELP!!!

was the sick smelly?
If it smells like poo get your cat to the vet as fast as you can, it could be very serious.
if it smells like rank sick she may be poorly, I'd give the vet a call for peace of mind tonight, the advice won't cost anything.
If as I expect, it's not particularly wrong-smelling and as you say there are undigested biscuits in it there's nothing to worry about, 9x out of 10 in my exp. it's because of mixing the food.
I think ppl think of it like pasta and bolognaise - it looks more pleasing to the eye mixed and one thinks it'll add texture, whereas (searches for appropriate metaphor) it's more like having steak and cake mixed together...
Try feeding the meat separately from the biscuits, at separate meals, it shouldn't happen again xx

Re: Nefs just been sick HELP!!!

I wouldn't worry unless there are other symptoms, cats are sick much more readily than we are.

Re: Nefs just been sick HELP!!!

Her sick didn't smell at all really. Certainly not poopy smelling. Shes been sick once (with the undigestid bits in it) and twice with just a bit of watery phlem today .

I'll keep an eye on her tonight. I would have phoned the vet straight away but had no phone credit. I must always ALWAYS have phone credit and enough to cover the access of the insurance esp. now I have a house full of animals I can't afford not to.

I think you might have hit it on the head with the mixing the wet with the dry. That is some thing I've always done.

Oh poor darling. I've chucked it all in the bin now. Tomorow I'll go out and get some nice raw turkey that doesn't make any one sick

*Edit* Nef is now taking a cautious but long drink at the water bowl (just put in some nice cold fresh).

Re: Nefs just been sick HELP!!!

Aw I truly believe that she's fine. Do of course double check her symptoms with the vet tomo if just to put your mind at rest but tbh if I was you I'd ring and do it over the phone before you take her in unless anything changes, it'll probably save you £20, as I expect they'll say the same. (I'm just saying that as it cost me £23 this morning for the privelege of pulling a hair out of my kittens eye at the vets...myself)
If it smells fine it most probably is! As Liz said, cats are more readily sick than we are. Some of them apparently do it for attention I've heard, horrid little monkeys! ...If you were to leave it chances are she'd come and munch it up later try splitting the meals, I bet you your vet bill you won't have the same problem tomorrow xxx
