We've found World's Best Extra to be superior to all other cat litters, it isn't cheap but does last quite a while and so works out fairly economical.

I use the clumping litter by clean and tidy (bought from pets@home) - they yellow one and its great.

World's Best Cat Litter is indeed a wheat based one, which will be good when the kitten do get to the age where litter looks tasty - which they will! I'm using World's Best atm, I bought from ebay though Pet Plat do it at a good price. https://www.petplanet.co.uk/product....519&pf_id=4405 It's a bit expensive but for my two kitties I find one 7.5kg bag lasts over a month. It clumps really well, making proper little hard lumps you can scoop out and top up. I only completely empty a tray about once every 3 month+ and even then only because I feel like I *should* - the tray isn't dirty, the litter looks exactly the same!

However what I've discovered from Lily's breeder is that World's Best is basically Chick Crumbs dyed yellow. It's exactly the same stuff. Chick Crumbs are chicken feed and can be bought in vast quantities for naff all money. Here's 20kg for £7.90 ( BOCM Pauls Farmgate Chick Crumbs ACS (Size: 20 kg) ), rather than World's Best at 15kg for £33. Postage is non-trivial though.

World's Best is made from corn, I'm not sure what chick crumbs are made from but I'm trying them out at the moment and they do look similar and do seem to do a similar job, they do track more though.

Sorry, corn. All these grains blur into one for me I can't find the indredients of that particular bad I'm getting once my current store of World's Best runs out, but they're likely all similar so here's the ingredients of a different brand of chick crumb:

I use Cats Best - its a wood based clumping litter, lasts ages, doesnt smell, clumps really well so you only need to scoop the clumps (and solids of course ) leaving the remaining litter clean. the Petfood Warehouse - Cat's Best ÖkoPlus Clumping Litter - For Kittens & Cats - Make unpleasant indoor odours a thing of the past! - Pet Products Delivered to Your Door - it does track around the house a bit though I have 4 trays downstairs, 4 out in the garage and 1 tray upstairs (I used PAH wood pellets for the upstairs tray though - mainly because of the tracking, I've got carpets upstairs and it doesnt track as much as Cats Best).

Worlds Best is simply crushed corn husks - nothing else. Chick crumbs have a lot of other ingredients in them - obviously they would, as they are a feed for chicks! Crumbs are more like Cats Best in texture rather than Worlds Best which is much finer, I stopped using crumbs because of all the other stuff in them - not that cats eat them deliberately (although some might!) but can ingest some when washing paws etc.

I'm sorry am i being totally thick or are you saying i can use chick food as cat litter i'm sorry to be so blunt but i have never heard of this and i'm looking for a more kitten friendly litter at the moment. If i am reading this right and i can use chick food is it any chick food or does it have to be a certain one.

You can use chick crumbs as cat litter - it works just like any clumping cat litter, but as I said before, all chick crumbs contain loads of 'food' ingredients (for chicks!) whereas clumping cat litters tend to be clay or wood - or corn like WB. Chick crumbs can work out a lot cheaper than some of the better cat litters but if you do decide on chick crumbs make absolutely sure they are not medicated crumbs. Medicated crumbs contain hormones and antibiotics which are definitely not good for a cat to ingest.

I've tried scores of cat litters over the years and have never found anything as good as Fresh News. Can't stand wood pellets, you just end up with sawdust through the whole house! Same with Worlds Best, the tracking is dreadful, in fact any of the fine grained litters are a nightmare.
