Question Messy Persian Drinker

Hi
I have a persian cat who is one and I groom him daily but when he drinks - his head is soaking wet and it's like I haven't ever put a comb near him! Does anyone have tips on flat faced, long haired cats. i think they have rabbit feeder/bottles for show cats?
thanks

Re: Messy Persian Drinker

What food does he eat? If he eats dry he will need to drink a lot more than is normal and get messy in the process! My persians all eat wet food pouches or raw and rarely need to drink - but when they used to be fed dry they would have their heads almost continuously in the water bowl and consequently their ruffs got soaked.

I have heard some cats can get used to drinking from rabbit water feeders, would be worth a try. My friend used to use a baby bib round the ruffs of her show persians for the days before a show.

You could try one of these
Cat Mate Multi Level Water Fountain - £18.75 : Pinky Pawz - Simply ... the cats whiskers!, Pinky Pawz - Simply ... the cats whiskers!

There are different levels for them to drink from and maybe if he drank from the higher level one his bib wouldn't get quite so wet (mind you it is how you get him to drink from that one rather than a lower one....!)

Would it help to raise his water bowl slightly?
