Re: cat fit
I had a cat who had seizures which turned out to be linked to protein absorption problems, after a barrage of tests she was put on a specific food regime and the fits stopped. However they were not preventable by medication as they were so unpredictable , it was just sheer luck that there was a diagnosable cause in her case which could be rectified by food type intake, [ ingredients and protein levels wise that is ].
Prior to her diagnosis, what was most important in her case was to management immediately after fitting because of temperature spikes which can cause organ damage so after a fit I had to make sure her food and water was immediately available, [ they made her ravenous ], and if a more than average fit [ for her ], to get her to the vet for a jab to stabilise her temperature.
There are so many causes of fits and in some cases preventative treatment may help but only your vet or a specialist if referred can really advise on this for your little`un.
I do know that in many cases a regular regime of Skullcap and Valerian tablets are prescribed sometimes on their own and sometimes in conjunction with chemical medicines though I`m more aware of that in dogs than cats but still well worth talking to the vet about and also to speak to the makers of the tablets, [ Dorwest ] as the tablets are a Licensed Veterinary Medicine.
I hope that whatever the cause the fits can be managed/stabilised long term )))hugs(((
***All readers please note, in such circumstances no owner should ever medicate for something like this herbally or otherwise without full veterinary approval for your pet, in Uk at least it is not only illegal to withhold necessary medical care, it could be hazardous or fatal to your pet.
