Fur loss

My mum has a gorgeous red persian called Sam who is about 15 years old now. Being a persian he moults a alot, but over the past year he has gone bald around the neck where his collar was.

We thought it might be the collars, but he hasn't had a collar now since we first noticed it at the beggining of the year and he's still missing fur, its not grown back. We are assuming that its the frontline flee drops that we use, but my mum is reluctant to switch to a collar for him as its just more chemicals. My mum has just decided to not treat him although he gets them quite often.

Has anyone else had this problem with frontline? And does anyone have any recomendations for other flee treatments?

Re: Fur loss

Kitty is 14 and hasn't had a problem with frontline or hairloss. It could be a skin infection causing hair loss or possibly an allergic reaction to flea bites. Flea collars tend not to work too well so it is best to keep using frontline. If his hair hasn't grown back despite not using frontline, it's probably not that causing the hair loss.

It might be a good idea to take him to the vets just to get it checked out.
