after speying when to remove lampshade collar??

Hi all

have 6 month old kittens who were speyed last week (thursday), so they have had them on for 9 days. the stitches are dissolvable, but i can still see one end.... when is it ok to remove their collars - they are getting really annoyed with them now, although its not stopping them doing anything, apart from wash and groom, but they are grooming each other, and we've been giving them breaks

thanks

You could try them without the collars under close supervision- if they try and chew or lick their wounds then collars back on for a few days until the sutures are completely gone

I never have collars for my cats or kittens after spaying........ they very rarely bother about the stitches and the collars are just a nuisance and very unpleasant for the cats. My vet uses dissolving sutures but they very rarely dissolve, at least not within 10 days or so, so I just remove them myself after 8 or 9 days, it's easy enough to do.
