Re: Natures Menu too tough on tummy's

Yep, mine had terrible diarrhea after eating Nature's Menu kitten pouches, which are nutritionally identical to the adult ones. I tried them on and off for a couple of weeks because I liked the high meat content, but it happened every time so I gave up.

Now I'm slowly changing their diet from dry (Applaws) to raw (food4cats) and they have biscuits in the morning, then two small meals of raw in the evening. I do it this way because I've read that dry is digested quicker and should not be fed after wet or raw in order to avoid constipation, but seems to be much debate. I think I will eventually feed them two raw meals a day, with the occassional bowl of biscuits to keep them used to it in case I have to leave them overnight. They drink filtered water instead of tap.

Annoyingly, one of my kittens who suffers from digestive upset (runny poo, ludricrously smelly farts, some vomitting) actually seems to cope slightly better with biscuits than raw, but I'm convinced that this diet change will have significant long-term benefits.

Have you tried applaws? I get it in sainsburiys under the name encore, it's exactly the same as applaws (have a search of the boards if you're not sure) and only about £3 in sainsburys. My cats love the wet food and they up until I tried applaws wouldn't touch wet food.
