Unhappy Advice needed Please help

Dear All
I have a cat called JJ he is 13 years old. He has always been a loving affectionate cat, that is until he went to the vet and had two teeth out! He has not been the same since. His health went up and down with a sore in the mouth, then a lump (that disappeared) under his tongue. My wife has been going through a bad time and JJ adores her, unfortunately what with the vet and my wife not being very happy at the moment this has affected him we believe. He is fearful of something and appears very insecure. We have him eating and drinking well again now but he has started to have a wee wherever he is laying. When he goes there is no pain and a lot of it, the urine is normal in colour. He is also opening his bowels without problem but again he is not always using the tray. We have been using homeopathic remedies as the vets stresses him out badly, we have also been giving him lots of affection and time. Does anyone know why he should be wetting himself like this, he has been liike this for the past 4 days or so? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It sound like the visit to the vets has upset him
he may also sense your wife is not her normal self and this can also affect him,
The homeopathic remedies are very good (I also use them) you could try a feliway spray and a plug in feliway you can get these on line or from your vet,
this is the link to read about feliway Comfort Zone Feliway Plug Ins for Continuous Pheromone Feline Behavior Modification, presented by HDW Enterprises and Foothill Felines Bengals.
I do hope I have been some help

Maybe an idea to provide an additional litter tray and/or change to a different type of litter. You could also try using a little Bach's Rescue Remedy - put a couple of drops in his water to help relax him.

The other thing is honeysuckle spray - this is an alternative to catnip but it does have a different effect on different cats. I sprayed some on a blanket of a cat who hated travelling in the car (to vets) and it totally chilled him out but on a couple of my other cats it does have the same effect as catnip - gives them a high and makes them excited. It doesn't smell much to us at all but the cats can smell it.
THE ORIGINAL HONEYSUCKLE SPRAY *RECOMMENDED PRODUCT* on eBay, also Toys, Cats, Pet Supplies, Home Garden (end time 29-May-08 00:40:00 BST)

Good luck; I hope you can sort this out for JJ.

Smile Re: Advice needed Please help

JJ is doing ok thank you, I had him on Rescue Remedy but he is now on antibiotics from the vet. I bought a feliway vapouriser as suggested and that is on all the time. The vets are totally baffled as he is eating well. We also think he has us at it a little as when he thinks we are not looking he eats like a healthy cat and cleans himself. Unfortunately he is still 'wetting' which could be stress. Unfortunately we are keeping him in which probably does not help him, but we cannot risk him running away as we need to monitor his intake of food, fluids and also his toilet habits. My husband made him a harness and we take him into the garden with us and just out generally. I believe he is making steady progress. Thank you for your concern, it is much appreciated.
