Re: should I be getting worried?

i wudnt worry too much, after such a huge opp its only natural for her to be feelin under the weather. as long as she is drinkin and weein and pooin she shud be ok. shes prob still groggy from bein put to sleep.

give the vet a ring 2moro if your still worried, better to be safe than sorry

Re: should I be getting worried?

If she seems OK in herself, it may just be a reaction to the anaesthetic, but when my kittens are spayed they are ravenous as soon as they get home.......then they start playing as normal!

definitely see the vet tomorrow if she doesn't eat tonight or in the morning.

Re: should I be getting worried?

rub some of the whiska jelly into her gums, this should stimulate her a bit more.

How long is it since she ate? cats can get quick sick quite quickly from not eating.

I dont like whiskas but i do keep some in stock for any sick or convalessing cats.
If that works then pop some of the jelly into a syrings (if you have one, or the end of a spoon) and see if she will lap it up. If so then hopefully she will take on her other food.

Often cats like smelly food, so things like pilchards etc (its why whiskas and felix are so popular with cats), but really she needs to have something light.

Re: should I be getting worried?

It is so hard worrying about our fur babies All cats are different though and just because some recover more quickly than others it doesnt mean that she wont recover!!!! On all the sites I have read they do say 7-10days recovery time so it is still early days. I think I would try giving her a little condensed milk to give her some nourishment if she is not eating. Is she still wearing a collar or has this come off now?

Re: should I be getting worried?

not in milk. Many cats are lactose intolerant, and while she is poorly i wouldnt suggest experimenting to see if she can tolerate it or not.

If you have some evaporated milk, goats milk or specific kitten milk then yes. I would also scramble the egg first to cook it.

I give raw eggs as part of a barf diet (raw diet), however there is always a minute risk of salmonella, and raw eggs do contain proteins which can inhibit vitamin absorbtion. Egg whites inhibit, egg yolks promote so they do balance, but again with a sick cat, best to cook the eggs.

try some other foods to tempt...

goats cheese
pilchards/sardines
tuna
boiled white fish (coley)
boiled chicken
hotdog sausages (yep it can tempt their appetite)
cooked minced lamb

Anything to get her eating now.

Once she is eating you can go back to your normal diet for her. If she hasnt eaten by this evening i would be ringing the vets again and expressing your concerns.

HUGSXXX

and for what its worth you did the RIGHT thing getting her speyed! I foster pregnant cats and kittens for a rescue. I see what happens when things get out of controll, and all the unplanned litters and kittens. Ive seen queens die during birth, kittens die and young girl cats die early because their bodies are just worn out with back to back litters

YOU DID THE RIGHT THING!
