Misty

Hi everyone I just wondered if someone could help.

My Tonkinese Misty seems to be suffering slightly. On first glance I thought it was maybe flees (we moved into a new house where the owner never used flee treatment on their cats) so I sprayed the whole house from top to bottom with a flee killer (can't remember the name) and use a spot on treatment once a month as advised. It doesn't seem to have made any difference though. I had seen signs of flees but that has now gone and I inspect both cats almost every other day with the flee comb to check (seeing as her symptoms don't appear to have gone away) and there is no sign whatsoever.

Her symptoms are:

- Very sensative ears - doesn't like anything touching them
- "Aggressive" licking and cleaning - almost slightly attacking herself
- A bit twitchy and jumpy and after a short session of "aggressive cleaning" will run around the house like a loony
- Very sensative back near her lower back/tail especially. Arches away when stroked (if that makes sense)
- When I give her a good scratch or brush her (which I do twice a week) you can see lots of tiny skin flakes on top of her fur

I don't know what to do. I have been using a pet oil supplement in her food as advised by her breeder to see if it was dry skin for two weeks now and it doesn't seem to have made any difference (apart from her coat is now stunning!!).

I didn't want to rush her straight to the vets as 95% of the time she is a very happy cat and doesn't seem bothered by it often and she always has a very bad reaction to going to the vets, she will then hide for day under the bed and not eat much so it really would be a last resort to take her there.

Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. I was going to try an "exclusion" diet to see if its food allergies but don't really know where to start. She is SUCH a fussy eater I am very limited with what I can give her. At the moment she has science plan biscuits and one pouch of science plan wet food a day.

Laura

Re: Misty

Sounds awful I really don't know maybe she has an allergy to something?
