Raw chicken wings

My kittens eat hi life wet pouches and James well beloved dry food. I was thinking of introducing a little raw meat every now and then since reading a bit on the forums about it.
I have some chicken wings in the freezer would it be a good idea to start with this? And how often should I give them.

I would try them out with some smallish pieces of raw meat first, to get them used to chewing on real meat, graduate to larger pieces and then meaty bones. If you do try the wings I'd cut or break them into three (at their natural joints) as whole wings could be a bit daunting for a first bone.

Re: Raw chicken wings

I introduced my little one to raw chicken wings as a first raw meal, and he coped ok. As already said, break it up as much as possible otherwise they might struggle. Be prepared for some bone crunching noises too! hehe

Re: Raw chicken wings

mine all have chicken wings, and i start weaning kittens on to raw minced meats. If you want to try then i would put the chicken wing into a bag and whack it about with the rolling pin to break it up a good bit first.

Ooh that's such a fab idea! Why didn't I think of that! And here we were sawing away with a kitchen knife trying to break them up. lol.

Re: Raw chicken wings

Anybody know where you can buy chicken wings? I've not seen them in the supermarket but I don't usually go in the meat section so I may have missed them. I don't actually have a freezer so don't really want to buy a load of frozen stuff that will go off.

IN the chicken meat section in the supermarket - you need to wander down the isle to find them

Thanks. I'll look harder next time. I keep forgetting, maybe I've got a bit of a mental block about it because they're so yukky looking, but I definitely mean to try them for Lulu because her gums are quite red and she's very young (vet doesn't think she's quite ready for a dental just yet).

Re: Raw chicken wings

we've started giving our 2 a raw chicken wing each on a saturday evening

cookie loved it, she took hers off into their room to eat it and growled if anyone went in but candy wasn't too sure just prodded it a few times but i think she will just copy cookie next time

we just gave them whole, cookie ate all the meat and skin but not sure if she tried the bones or not
