i no cats should be neutered around the age of 6 months. however when i was at the vets last week with Tux sed they wud consider doin it earlier if needed.

is there any signs that wud show his man hood was gettin stronger?

Hi,

I would leave it no later than six months. You don't want Tux (fab name btw) starting to spray, because once they start it is very difficult to stop them.

They recover from it much quicker than girls do! I am sure he will be bouncing around before you know it!.

If his pee starts to smell really strong, he is going through puberty and will start to spray, or if you have other cats he may start biting the backs of their necks and jumping on them.

Re: when is it time to neuter?

My boy was done today at five months and he's fine, we had to get him done early as we have a little girl kitty too!

Re: when is it time to neuter?

Best time to neuter is at 4 months or less - they recover so quickly at that age. My kittens are almost always neutered at 13-14 weeks.

Re: when is it time to neuter?

Will be getting Theo de-manned on Monday and he is nearly 7.5 months. Would have had him sorted at 6 months but have held off because he's been on medication and vet advised to wait. His urine is smelling very strong but luckily he hasnt sprayed anywhere YET! Can't wait for Monday (will be nervous as well though). Hope that Bella doesn't come into season any time soon as I understand he will still be fertile for a little while after
