How often do your trim your cats claws!

My girls claws where getting very sharp!! like drawing blood sharp (on me) lol! and id been putting off getting them clipped as i thought she would go mental, but she didn't, she even seemed to enjoy, she looked so interested in what i was doing it was quite comical to watch her face. anyway my question is how often do you clip them back, if at all?

Never, wouldn't even consider trimming cats claws.

Wouldn't it be a bit self defeating anyway? After a short while they would just shed the sheaf and have a brand new sharp claw again.

Re: How often do your trim your cats claws!

I trim my 7 month old BSH kitties claws about once a month. Don't do it severely though, just cut of the very tip so that it is not so needle-like ... I do it with them wrapped in a towel with just one paw poking out at a time so that they don't run away. Lol

I never trim mine. They all go outside so they keep their claws nice and small

Re: How often do your trim your cats claws!

My two have been done a few times since i had them. They have scratch posts, but i know they are too long when a toy gets "stuck" on Lucky's claws and she has to shake it off.

Re: How often do your trim your cats claws!

I never would, thats why i have bought her a scratching post and am sure she goes outside and that also helps. xxx

I do mine every 2 weeks, I always have a bit of trouble with the bengals but its easily overcome with a food bribe.
