7 Month Old Kitty Wants To Eat All The Time!

Hi there,

I feed my cat 2 pouches and some dry food every day. Not only does he eat all his food but he wants to eat mine as well. Even when I am in the kitchen he always runs in and sits and meows for food. Does anyone else have this problem?

I am also thinking of getting another kitty as a playmate for him. Is it better to get another male (he is a bsh)? As I was thinking of going to a rescue home.

Thanks
Jo

Re: 7 Month Old Kitty Wants To Eat All The Time!

At seven months he is still growing and needs lots of extra nutrients and calories. Are you feeding him a kitten food? How much dry food along with two pouches?

I have a ten year old male who eats two pouches plus about 1/8 cup of dry every day. A kitten would certainly need more than that.

If he does not appear over weight, add some more kibble, or another pouch, to his daily quota.

I am always for getting another cat in from the shelter! As long as they are both neutered, it doesn't matter much what gender you get.

Most cats don't take to each other right away, it takes cats time to get used to any sort of change, and cats are very territorial, but in time they will be very happy together.

I prefer multiple cats at all times so have done many integrations !

Re: 7 Month Old Kitty Wants To Eat All The Time!

Hi

Thanks for your reply! I was feeding him 2 pouches of Feline Fayre & 40g of James Welbeloved a day but now i have switched him to 2 pouches of Natures Menu and 40g of James Wellbeloved. The Natures Menu is cat food as I tried him on lots of different kitten foods and he would not eat them. The James Well beloved is kitten food though. He weighs 2.9kg now and is a BSH. I have read that they grow pretty big.

I really would love to get another kitty but I am still trying to persuade my husband! I will just keep on and on at him he will eventually come round to the idea! lol

Jo xx

Re: 7 Month Old Kitty Wants To Eat All The Time!

Hiya, I have a BSH and hes around 2 years old now and he eats without doubt double what my other cats eat! I was told to feed him more often as they are big cats and he loves feline fayre so although he has biscuits down all day he will constantly ask for more wet food! I think maybe give him a pouch for lunch also.

Hi

I have two BSH 7 month old kittens and have just had them weighed. The girl is 3.6 Kg and the boy is 4.2 Kg and neither of them looks fat. They are eating about the same as yours in quantity, so maybe yours is hungry because he is going through a growth spurt. I would give him a bit more food if he wants it

Re: 7 Month Old Kitty Wants To Eat All The Time!

Hi Marcel,
Thanks for your reply! Yeh he loves his grub! Wants everything including what I am eating. I had a rescue cat when I was younger and she did not eat nowhere near as much as him! Lol... Well he is a growing boy!

Thanks
Jo
