Advice Please

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help, i have an 11 wk old kitten, have had her just over a wk.
For the last couple of days her poo has been a clay/khaki ish colour.
Does anyone know if this is normal?
She is absolutely fine in herself, running round, very happy, eating and drinking really well.
know it's a bit of a grosse subject but hopefully someone can put my mind at rest or offer advice?

Many Thanks
Claire

Re: Advice Please

If she is ok in her self i wouldnt worry to much i had a few odd colours in early days till my cat got settled with his food etc. Have you wormed your kitty as this can alter poo and also be a sigh they may need to be wormed if not been done .

Re: Advice Please

Hi,

Many Thanks for the reassuring reply.
I got her from a rescue centre and the form i got says panacur on 1st,2nd, 3rd Sept 1st,2nd,3rd Oct. I am hoping panacur is the worming treatment as im sure they said she had been wormed.
Must admit i have no idea when her next worming should be, if at all. She will be going for her 1st injections in a week so i will hopefully get more info from the vet as to what she needs

Thanks again

Re: Advice Please

pANACUR IS A WORMING TREATMENT. IF SHE IS STILL HAVING FUNNY COLOURED POO WHEN YOU TAKE HER FOR HER JABS MENTION TO YOUR VET. WHAT FOOD IS SHE ON THIS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Re: Advice Please

Thanks, i will have a word with the vet when we go if no change
She is on whiskas kitten tins with small amounts of dried whiskas biscuits.
She didnt wee or poo the first day and a half we got her and took her a while to get into the food so maybe it is just her stomach adjusting and herself to the surroundings etc

Re: Advice Please

May be worth looking into a different food later when she has calmed down whiskers is very very low meat content compared to some other brands and has a lot of cereal base in it. Of course its your choice as to what you want to feed your puss . x

Re: Advice Please

Harder with kitten food as theres not such a choice when there young. Mine wouldnt eat kitten food and is on appaulse.. there are a few brands of sachets in tesco on is there own make that has a higher meat content . It may be just a idear to check out a few different brands...i was unaware of whiskers having such a bad meat content until i joined here. Theres no reason why your kitten cant just have a dry diet of kitten complete biscuits. but of course they do get alot of there moisture from there food 80% i think so when young at least you know there getting fludis.

Re: Advice Please

if you change her food do it gradullly as if you switch it at once it may cause her a upset tummy. I gradully added it to mines exsisting food gradully then reduce his old food and up the new until he was on the new food fully. Its a bit of trail and error as to whats good for your cat. And not all cats like the same. I must admit my first cat was on whiskers as i didnt know much about it and like you it was one other peoplke used for years and yes mine was fine on it. And lived until 16 we lost him over a year ago now and our new baby is nearlly 9 months old. .
