Wow, that's quite a difference. Eleven is usually middle-aged, seventeen tends to be elderly. Have you had him long? What caused the mixup over his age?

Hi ya Well Thomas came to me from the nursing home ( Dementia) where i work because the old ladies were pulling him about and kicking him in the end so the boss decided to rehome him with me as i have experience with cats i got his vaccination card which said he was born 1-1-98 the vet checked him over and said he was alot older then 11 so i did some investigating only to find the lady who had him before the home took him in as a stray she said he was about 6 years old then, but gave him his 1st birthday from the day she got him ! if that makes sense x she is now living abroad so sadly had to give him up as she didn't want him to travel that far

You'd think the first vet would have filled in an approximate date of birth on the jab card, wouldn't you? He must be doing very well for you to have mistaken him for a youngster of eleven. My old cats (all sadly gone) were quite ancient by seventeen, nowhere near as lively as eleven year olds.

Re: Thomas is an old boy !

Yes when he came to live with us my hubby said he's not 11 no way ! he does look old .. we only found out just recently because of his health problems, which the vet said the other day fits his age, but honestly he doesn't show it he's just a little skinny which the vet has now got under control x
