Gunky eyes and nose and sneezing

Okay I'm a bit of a worrier as I'm new to owning cats.

Since I got my kittens on October 2nd, both have been sneezing every day.

Sapphire gets a build up of dry dark brown/black gunk in the inner corners of her eyes which I wipe away each day. I've also noticed at times her third eyelid is showing in the inner corners.

I noticed Rocky with a bit of dry dark brown/black gunk in his nose which I have also cleaned (with a lot of wriggling as Rocky is a drama queen lol)

Both are still active. They play fight and run around together as well as interacting with us. They do sleep lots too which I know is what kittens do.

They had their first check up after two days of being at home and the vet said probably symptoms of cat flu which they could have caught before they were vaccinated by their breeder and that the symptoms can reoccur when stressed ie moving home. They weren't given anything for it and advised that they should settle down.

So I went back this Monday as I still had concerns - and Sapphire had a bit of vomitting and diarrhoea. The vet gave us some bland food easy on the stomach and gave Sapphire antibiotics to see if it relieved her symptoms which were a bit worse than Rocky.

I was just googling and have become concerned as there were some discussions saying that black mucous from the nose could be a sign of cancer?!?!

Can anyone give me advice? Or should I go back to the vets again.

I haven't contact the breeder about this. Do you think I should?
They are sneezing but no green snot. Just dry black boogers.
Rocky's eyes are fine. Sapphires eyes have dried discharge in inner corners, I wouldn't say she has red eyes and she's not weepy.

I suggest a course of anti biotics for them both, a trip to the vets. Will sort it.

Thanks! Sapphire has had an injection of antibiotics but vet thought Rocky's symptoms were not bad (although I hadn't noticed the crusty nose until later)
I think I'll call and ask for some advice and maybe get some antibiotics for him if his symptoms continue.

Re: Gunky eyes and nose and sneezing

Thanks for asking Spearmint.

Last night when I got home from work they seemed better. I read on internet some kitties are allergic to cat litter and they were sneezing more when in the cat litter box. They have been using catsan. But I have worlds best that I was working in slowly. I wanted cats best OKO plus but they didn't have any at P@H. I'll see if it improves if I switch totally.

Before I left for work this morning I gave them some wet food and they gobbled it up.
Sapphires eyes seemed to be better, still a little bit of gunk but not as much as before.
I looked up Rocky's nose (although he's a wriggler and kept trying to escape) alot better.

Only thing wrong today is my OH called me about half hour ago saying Sapphire peed on the bed wetting his feet!! LOL. He wasn't happy.

Re: Gunky eyes and nose and sneezing

ah bless them, they do sound like they are getting better today.

both candy and cookie sneezed for the first few days here, both used to get a build up of dark brown crusty stuff in the corner of their eyes every few days but as they've got older that has stopped now

oh no your poor OH!
