Re: fleas!

Well, re manufacturers... you paid for the product to do a job it didnt do... therefor you, or the Vet, should be saying Oi ! that didnt work, why didnt it work? and what more do you suggest?

I have done it a few times, and they are usually very helpful.. worth a try ..

Nothing to lose except the flea...

Re: fleas!

i personally think that fleas are becoming immune to frontline,im using it 3 weekly, and still find themive heard they are bringing out a new one,so the combi will be released on licence to be sold in pet shops ect, maybe they have cottoned on and have changed it slightly

Re: fleas!

I thought that's probably why you mentioned it. I've had a similar experience with drugs not working on me properly.. and they amount of info they need isn't something i could give them for neeps.
It's worth telling them about certainly but for them to do anything useful they'd have to do blood and immunity tests on the monster to see why she's not as susceptible to their treatment as other cats, which would be quite useful but ain't happenin lol.

we'll see how this weekends re-fogging of the house goes.. and daily doses for monster to see if that's better for her (annoyingly expensive but.. better than furless feet in winter lol). if that doesn't work OH can take her to vets in 2 weeks time to get super strength sheep dip for her.

shortback.. do keep bringing out new ones as CP mentioned earlier the buggers get immune..also the manus find better concentrations/combinations of drugs to deal with the buggers on various different levels via different application methods (systemically/environmentally etc). omg i have to stop being such a science nerd.

however i don't think immunity the problem this time.. i think it's neeps having trouble rather than the drugs being effective as bubs is fine and flea free. We can't use spot on on neeps as she reacts to it so frontline is out unless they do a tablet version of the combi, which i think is what we've used on her recently. Hopefully the vets will be able to prescribe a higher dosage tablet if the current ones don't work over the next few weeks.

Re: fleas!

Talking of sheep dip, I actually had to bath a cat in sheep dip stuff about twenty years ago, can't even remember why, but she was a stray who had something nastier than fleas. It was quite an experience and I don't envy anyone who has to do it. Cat went bananas, of course, and the smell in a confined bathroom space was atrocious. No wonder farmers suffer all sorts of nervous system ailments using that stuff year in year out.

Re: fleas!

neeps might actually like being shampooed, she likes water.. scared of the shower head but puts up with water being poured on her head, i might lather her up and stick her out in the rain.
