Re: Advice - should I bring cat home....?

just had vet on the phone ( he phone me!).... apparently she may have gone to the toilet (wee) over night, although they don't know if it was just incontinence or conscious effort.... So he has made a suggestion to amputate tail, which he has now gone off to do..... They have had to take the food away because she is eating too much!!!! She has not, however done a poo.. so it is still a wait and see process... but he has agreed that may be we give her til the weekend b4 making "that" decision... she is quite happy and responsive and bright so...who knows.... mustn't get hopes up tho....

Re: Advice - should I bring cat home....?

Just been to see her, and oh my, how 24hrs can bring about a change... She had her tail amputated yesterday afternoon, and was sitting up about an hour later.... eating like a horse... well, a very hungry tiger then! all we were waiting for was her to really go ot the toilet overnight...

This morning when I got there, she mewed at me.... she got up - albeit "carefully".... and not for long... She had wee'ed in her litter tray, so obvioulsy she had got up and moved that far.... Yippee....

Of course there is a BUT.... she hasn't done a poo yet... but under the vets supervision this morning my son gave her some laxative paste, and he is also going to give her a suppository or something later to see if that gets things moving... If not, then it is still curtains...

Please please pray that she moves her bowels in the next 24hrs... that is the only thing stopping her from coming home.

She was definitely my "Scarf" (that's her name by the way) today... so I think if she doesn't do what she needs to do the decision is going to be hard... but I have resigned myself to the fact that it may still happen. I know some of you feel I should have pts first off but as the vet said to me today "you never gave up hope did you?".... Even he was positive today!

Please please pray for a poo! Odd request I know but hey... got to try everything x

Re: Advice - should I bring cat home....?

Everything's crossed for Scarf.

We have a cat who had her tail amputated right at the base of the spine and she copes perfectly well so that won't be a problem for Scarf, she'll just look a bit odd

PTS should definitely be the last course of action so well done for sticking with it, I really hope things work out for you both.
